Unbeknownst to many, acting is a science, a science which enables performers to breakdown, analyze and better understand human emotional interaction from both a personal and an objective level. Like a scientist working in a lab, there are specific rules, procedures, and techniques one must learn and employ in order to justify the result of an experiment. In the case of the actor on the stage, there are specific processes one must satisfy to bring a monologue, scene, or play to life for an audience. Furthermore, theater is specific: what the actor sees, the audience sees. The development of an active and vivid imagination is crucial for advancement in this art.
As an acting coach, Marcus Terrell gives the actor an extreme, in-depth look at character work and circumstance. His teaching stresses listening, reacting, and the development of an active mind, a mind able to work within the parameters of the scene/song/play. Students will also be given a more extensive catalog of acting and warm-up techniques.
